For my first blog post, I wanted to review an EP that I have been anticipated since the beginning of the year. I've been a fan of this artist when she was on a singing reality show called American Idol. Her current name might not ring any bells unless you've watched season 12 in which she performed under her previous name, Angie Miller. You may recognize that name and singer when she sang an original song called You Set Me Free during the Hollywood Rounds which blew the judges, as well as everyone who watched the show including me, away. She was placed third but that didn't stop her from pursuing her music journey. In 2014, she released an EP called Weathered independently which, unfortunately, was no longer available on streaming platforms.
And then in 2015, what was once Angie Miller now became Zealyn. She's now making music under a new name with a new sound. Her previous sound was pop rock but now her new songs are more into the indie electronic alternative side. That is shown on her debut EP in 2016 called Limbic System, a 7 track masterpiece produced by Aaron Marsh of Copeland that showcased a different side of her. The songs are more experimental and ambient while keeping the familiarity of her voice and lyrics. And now after 3 years, Zealyn is back with her sophomore EP. So, what do I think of A Weekend in Maine?
