TV REVIEW: Little Women (2022) + Updates on the blog

Greetings, it's been a while since I posted something on this blog. I was supposed to finish up my top favorite songs in 2021 but I got stuck with writer's block that I had to delay it until I'm done with the list. In the meantime, I was focused on my final years in college by writing a dissertation and completing group projects and exams. Now, as I wait for the date for my graduation, I decided to rebrand this blog because I want to expand in reviewing other medias such as tv shows, movies and books (yes, they count.) Don't worry, I will post some music reviews from time to time. Without further ado, here's my first review of a television show. I will warn that some parts of the review may contain spoilers. So, I advised you to watch the show first before reading this review.

BLOG UPDATE: “Information just wants to be free”

"There's a popular saying, 'Information just wants to be free'. Do you agree with this sentiment? What are the implications of such freedom for old media? Are the implications for new media different?"

The quote, "Information just wants to be free" is said by Steward Brand, founder of Whole Earth Catalog, and it comes from Steve Levy, the author who wrote The Definitive Story of Information Wants to be Free. The full context of the quote is about how information wants to be either expensive or free. The reason for the former is because of its value while the latter is because of the low cost of getting all the information out. (Gans, 2015)

My Top 20 Favorite Songs in 2019

Yep. I'm pretty late to do this. I know I haven't updated this blog but I'm back atleast for now. (Future me: Oh man. When was the last time I use this blog? I apologize for my inactivity with some posts leaving in the drafts. I'm trying to get back to writing.)

It's list season. Normally I would start with the hits from worst to best but I don't feel like it. Instead, I'm going to do a top 20 list of favorite songs in 2019. Yes, Top 20. There's a lot of songs I liked from artists I love which includes my top favorites to brand new artists you should check out. Despite having 20 songs on the list, I'll be adding a lot of honorable mentions which I will talk about them in brief. Some songs will be cut so this list won't be super long. And for the sake of my sanity, I had to limit this list to one artist per entry. Without further ado, here are the top 20 songs that I enjoyed in 2019. Starting with...

The Semiotic Approach of TMNT (2007)

Semiotic is defined as a study of how meaning is created and how it is communicated. It is a way of how we see the world and understand how the environment and culture we live in creates a massive impact on all of us unconsciously. The origins of the semiotic lie in the visual and linguistic studies on how signs and symbols create meaning. What we automatically think and do often conducted by a complex set of messages and conventions, depending on our ability to interpret them instinctively and instantly. A common example of a semiotic would be the traffic light and how we react to each of the colors. Red means stop, green means go and yellow means ready to stop. We know this without thinking about it. Not only semiotics are seen visually, but it can also be seen through sound as well.

Can digital tools still set agenda and alter human behavior, perspective and beliefs without human interaction? State your arguments

The task for this assignment is based on the article written by Tartleton Gillespie titled The Stories Digital Tool Tells. It focuses on how humans take notice of technology and the stories that are told via digital tools. To give a generic defintion, a digital tool is defined as an outlet in which the tools are characterized by electronic and computerized technologies, according to IGI Global. Basically, it is what we use everyday via our phones, computers and television. A piece of technology has a story to tell as it has an agenda.

Audience React to Heineken's Open Your World

To have an impactful and successful online campaign is to have a goal, a strategy, and a message that is relevant to the audience. The campaign should spark a conversation between individuals who have different opinions and taking a risk to do something controversial and uncomfortable to have a powerful and positive output. Let's talk about Heineken and its campaign titled Open Your World.
